Old Swinford Hospital school

“We encourage forces families to pay us a visit and see for themselves, what makes OSH so distinctive.”

Old Swinford Hospital, founded in 1667, is a happy and vibrant state boarding school for boys where traditions and values sit comfortably alongside innovation.

OSH has a long history of boarding children from forces families.  The school’s headmaster is a former pupil at British Army Schools, so he is very familiar with the unique circumstances of forces children.

The School seeks to provide real opportunities and encouragement, and prides itself on getting the right balance between academic achievements, nurturing individual character and preparing pupils for the future.

Boarders at OSH grow in confidence, independence and emotional resilience so that when they leave the School, they are mature and capable young people.

There are eight boarding houses, including a junior house for Year 7s and a recently opened Sixth Form house specifically for Year 13s.

Trying and appreciating new activities is an important part of the OSH experience and there is an impressive range of sporting, co-curricular and weekend activities available, which pupils are encouraged to take full advantage of.
