Ruthin School is a high achieving, academically focussed boarding school with a strong record of sending students to top university destinations in the UK and worldwide.
Teaching occurs in small groups and learning is tailored so students feel supported and encouraged to excel. Our students benefit from access to comprehensive, individual mentoring through the UCAS process. In 2022, 78% of our A Level students achieved at least one A/A* and secured places at destinations including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial and Hong Kong University. Our GCSE results are also the best in our region, with over 78% of results graded level 7-9.
The happiness of our students is at the centre of everything we do and good pastoral care is of paramount importance. Boarders enjoy a diverse, co-curricular programme of activities featuring a range of sports, games and wellbeing sessions which complement their studies. They also benefit from weekend visits to a variety of places including heading to the mountains for outdoor pursuits, theatre visits and shopping trips.
The school is situated at the foot of the beautiful Clwydian Range hills in north Wales, next to the charming market town of Ruthin. We are located within an hour’s drive of Snowdonia National Park and the cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester.
