Bredon is a mainstream school offering specialist Dyslexic and Dyscalculia teaching. Remaining true to Lt-Col Sharp’s founding vision in 1962 by placing daily English and Maths lessons at the heart of every pupils timetable. Our rich military history flows through our DNA, as we continue to offer a warm and friendly co-educational day and boarding experience alongside an outstanding array of enrichment opportunities.
“ Three pathways to unlock your talents - Academic, Vocational, Professional, with over half of the pupils taking up to eight GCSE’s” Good Schools Guide 2021
Offering class sizes of no more than 12, our emphasis is on providing every pupil with the tools to flourish in life beyond the classroom. Pupils are helped to reach their full potential by dedicated staff who understand the challenges of Dyslexia. An extensive range of specialist technology and creative lessons that think outside of the box, support a pupil’s learning journey and unlock their potential. A dedicated pathway programme offers pupils three routes to success. Academic, Vocational and Professional option blocks offer a choice that pitches to an individual pupils ability and interest from Year 9 through to the Sixth form.
Bredon offers an extensive outdoor pursuits program that includes the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and wide-ranging extracurricular activities including Farming, Horse riding, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Music tuition, Drama, Kayaking and Fishing.
Our CCF remains at the heart of the programme following in the footsteps of Lt-Col Sharp who served in the 2nd Monmouthshire Battalion, undertaking active service in the jungles of Malaya.
An outstanding competitive and inclusive sports programme is also available which includes a full fitness centre on-site. Relationships between boarders and their Houseparents are a real strength, as dedicated non teaching staff are on hand to provide a strong pastoral offering. At weekends, boarders have a varied programme of sports, trips and visits with sufficient time for them to enjoy their own interests and to relax.
