Gordon’s School

Built over a century ago at the express wish of Queen Victoria, as the national monument to General Gordon, Gordon’s is listed as one of Britain’s outstanding schools by Her
Majesty’s Chief Inspector.

A non-selective, co-educational boarding and day school, set in 50 acres of Surrey parkland, the School is in the top 1% of all schools in England and Wales for progress at A Level. However, its ethos is that a good education is not just outstanding examination results but a thorough preparation for life; it is about providing opportunities and experiences for all to find their talents, interests and develop good character.

“ Gordon’s combines ‘outstanding’ boarding provision alongside some of the very best education in the country.”

There are three main admission points, Year 7; Year 9 and Sixth Form. Over 50 per cent of its Boarders are from Service or Diplomatic families, attracted by the location and the school’s understanding of military and diplomatic life. For many, Gordon’s has been their first ‘constant’ after a life of moving schools and homes in line with their parents’ postings. It is also a haven from the worry of a parent involved in action.

All who visit Gordon’s are struck by the friendliness, discipline and vibrancy and the special rapport between staff and students.

One of Britain’s most academically successful state schools, we have a proud record of commitment to the highest standards and put great store in the widest possible recognition, celebration of achievement and intelligence.

All who visit are struck by the friendly, purposeful calm that pervades the school. This is no accident and is borne from self disciplined, focused and appreciative young people. Young people who are ambitious to be the best they can be, able to think for themselves, with a firmly-held moral code based on personal responsibility, respect for others and the desire to serve the wider community.
