Rossall School

Rossall is more than a school; it is an extraordinarily diverse and wonderfully creative community which provides an inspiring environment within which young people live and learn together. Founded in 1844, Rossall is situated on a historic 160-acre campus complete with its own beach, and is one of the country’s leading independent co-education
boarding schools for boys and girls aged 0-18.

“ A warm, happy and inclusive environment energised by a vision and challenge that is clearly helping all pupils to meet their potential.” Good Schools Guide

Here pupils enjoy learning and living in a friendly, busy and challenging atmosphere in the classroom, after school and at weekends. The sense of community that defines the School is achieved through the unrivalled standard of pastoral care, by the diverse pupil base and also by the permanent boarding population.

With a history dating back to 1844, Rossall combines a traditional British education with a modern approach which focuses on developing the whole child. With nearly fifty different nationalities living and learning together at Rossall, we truly are a global village. The combination of UK day students and students from right across the world creates an exciting international dimension and an appreciation of diverse cultures, religions and politics.

Facilities include 45 acres of outdoor grassed sports pitches, a dedicated golf centre with driving range, floodlit all-weather surfaces, a purpose built £4 million sports centre, heated indoor swimming pool, Fives courts, shooting range and multi-use games-area. Rossall also runs an Elite Football Programme for boys and girls, in partnership with League One football club, Fleetwood Town, and Rossall’s Golf Academy is currently ranked number 1 by the ISGA. In September 2021, Rossall became an All-Steinway School and launched its own International Piano Academy.

The School is also home to the Lawrence House Astronomy and Space Science Centre, the only centre of its kind in Britain, specialising in astronomy education.

The School provides a modern education with the senior school following the British National Curriculum culminating with GCSE/iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. In the Sixth Form, students can choose from A Levels, the International Baccalaureate Diploma or BTEC qualifications in Sports or Musical Theatre.
