Sedbergh School & Casterton Prep School

Sedbergh School is a coeducational full boarding school founded in 1525 for pupils aged 13 to 18. Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School is a coeducational boarding and day school for children aged 3 to 13.

“Sedbergh provides a genuine ‘full boarding’ experience with in-house dining on each of its 9 boarding houses.”

It is hard to imagine a more beautiful place in which to live, work and learn. The magnificent location of Sedbergh means pupils can enjoy school life in a safe, healthy and dynamic environment. Academic study is central for every pupil and will always take priority but the experiences of a Sedberghian are never confined only to the classroom.

The opportunities for outdoor activities are almost unlimited - from a walk in the hills to mountain biking, or the calm of fishing to high performance sailing. Individual sports abound: golf, tennis, Fives and more; whilst Sedbergh is synonymous with the highest standards of participation and achievement in traditional team sports: rugby, netball, hockey and cricket.

As a full boarding school with 570 pupils resident on a weekend and only 15% international, Sedbergh provides its pupils with a genuine UK boarding experience in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
