King's College Taunton

King’s College provides continuous day and boarding education for girls and boys aged two to 18 years. It comprises King’s Prep School which has approximately 300 children from two to 13 and a senior school with approximately 490 pupils from 13 to 18. The schools are situated on separate sites in the south west of England and combine traditional values with state-of-the-art facilities.

Children at King’s Prep enjoy a challenging all-round education in a progressive and stimulating environment. A good work ethic and small class sizes help to sustain the progress of all pupils, specialist teaching is the norm and the majority of King’s College leavers join some of the country’s leading institutions.

“Our child blossomed before our eyes and we’re so pleased with everything King’s has done.”

Each school benefits from a specialist arts centre and design technology workshops, fully equipped science faculties, tennis courts, a specialist library, individual music practice rooms, dedicated sports facilities, a heated swimming pool, IT suites and acres of sports fields and woodlands. Pupils also benefit from the wide programme of co-curricular and weekend activities including riding at the King’s Equestrian Centre, Combined Cadet Force, DofE, Forest School, music, drama, dance, Leiths School of Food &
Wine and more.

Boarding at King’s has a strong family atmosphere and each of our modern, boarding houses has a Houseparent alongside Matron and a team of staff who look after the pastoral needs of the children in their care.

The schools are small enough to be friendly and yet large enough to compete nationally. A good work ethic and small class sizes help sustain progress, and specialist teaching is the norm, with great emphasis placed on developing the individual: kindness, consideration, courtesy and respect for one another.

We have a good number of children from service backgrounds, who understand the pressures of being part of a military family, and who actively care and support each other. The fact that so many pupils and staff live on the site creates a strong sense of community, while the other great benefit is the extra time boarding offers: time for relaxation, friendship, and practising the many activities available – music, sport, Forest School, horse riding (at our equestrian centre), Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and performing arts.
