King's College Taunton

King’s Hall School and King’s College, Taunton are co-educational boarding schools situated in the south west of England, that combine traditional values with state-of-the-art facilities.

"Thriving Boarding Schools in the heart of the Somerset countryside."

A good work ethic and small class sizes help sustain progress, and specialist teaching is the norm. There is a large boarding community with a Military Liaison Tutor dedicated to helping pupils settled in to the King’s family. Each of our modern boarding houses has a Houseparent, alongside a Matron and team of staff who look after the pastoral needs of each child in their care. Our school caterers produce healthy cuisine and there is a 24 hour on-site medical centre available to all pupils.

King’s offers a vast array of co-curricular and weekend activities, unparalleled for a school of its size. The aim is to stimulate and challenge pupils, to broaden their outlook, provide opportunities that enrich their character, develop their personal, team and leadership skills, and also amuse and entertain them.

Each school benefits from an arts centre, specialist design technology workshops and art rooms, fully equipped science faculties, tennis courts, a specialist library, individual music practice rooms, dedicated sports facilities, a heated swimming pool, IT suites and acres of sports fields and woodlands. Pupils also benefit from the King’s Equestrian Centre, where they can ride for recreation or as part of the successful equestrian team.

We have a good number of children from service backgrounds, who understand the pressures of being part of a military family, and who actively care and support each other. The fact that so many pupils and staff live on the site creates a strong sense of community, while the other great benefit is the extra time boarding offers: time for relaxation, friendship, and practising the many activities available – music, sport, Forest School, horse riding (at our equestrian centre), Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and performing arts.
