Sandroyd School

Set in 500 acres of stunning parkland, Sandroyd is an independent prep school where children are given the time and space to truly be children. Our grounds are far more than a backdrop; they form a living extension of the classroom, encouraging curiosity, independence and adventure. Renowned for academic excellence, Sandroyd inspires children to flourish as confident, well-rounded individuals. Senior schools consistently praise how well prepared Sandroyd pupils are, with 40% of leavers achieving scholarships to leading senior schools over the past five years.

Boarding is central to life at Sandroyd. With dormitories upstairs and classrooms downstairs, the entire prep school lives and learns under one roof. With 88% of Prep School children boarding and 60% boarding full time, Sandroyd has the highest proportion of boarders of any co-educational stand-alone prep school in the UK. Remarkably, more than half of families live locally, proving that boarding here is not a necessity – it is a joy. This strong boarding culture makes Sandroyd particularly well suited to military families, offering stability, continuity and a genuine second home.

Teachers at Sandroyd go above and beyond for every child, taking the time to know each child and supporting them academically, pastorally and emotionally. Beyond the classroom, children enjoy daily sport, riding bikes and ponies, and spending time in the much-loved pets’ corner and stables, just steps from the art room.
