The Pilgrims’ School

The Pilgrims’ School is a boys-only prep school in central Winchester. “Boys are celebrated for whatever their area of excellence is”, a parent described. Our subject specialist teachers are passionate about what they do, and the progress made by the boys, both in and outside of the classroom. As a prep school, our job is to ensure that boys are well-prepared for their educational future, so that they may thrive and be happy when they move to their chosen senior school. Many boys leave Pilgrims’ for the country’s top senior boarding schools, including Winchester College, Eton College and Harrow, with over a third, on average, gaining a scholarship or exhibition for academics, music, sport or art. The reason for their success is that there is an expectation of excellence at the heart of Pilgrims’ which underpins everything that we do here.

As well as being a high achieving school, we offer a varied curriculum, that includes sport, music and art, and an array of after school activities, including fencing, scuba diving and Warhammer. We have two boarding houses and both enjoy a friendly, bustling, family atmosphere. From Year 4, the proportion of boarders increases until Year 8 when typically, more than three quarters of boys board. In a fast changing and multicultural world, boarding at Pilgrims’ represents a huge opportunity for pupils to learn about themselves and others, embracing diversity, cultural differences in preparation for their future with confidence, in a supportive, caring environment.
